Aimed to bring the history of NASA’s Astro-1 mission to life for museum visitors, this project is a narrative-driven exhibit sequence for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. By translating complex scientific achievements into 13 engaging storyboards, the project aims to create an immersive learning experience that honors NASA's legacy and inspires future explorers.
With a team of 12 researchers and designers, the exhibit's design process was broken down over four months to define the narrative arc and visitor experience. Research was conducted through NASA scientist interviews and museum experience analysis to better understand the intersection of history and education within the Smithsonian. Then, with the insights we uncovered, workshop facilitation and storyboard ideation were explored to define the new concept and create a refined scripting prototype that we could validate with project stakeholders.
